A couple years ago my sweet brother bought me a domain name, just in case I'd want it. He does stuff like that. He even signed me up for Twitter before I knew what Twitter was. He's not just in front of the social media surge, he's making sure I don't get drowned in the undertow. But it wasn't until a year ago that I actually "adopted" the domain christinrice.com from him and enlisted my trusty all-things-computer-wise boyfriend to help me set this little baby up. And now here we are a year later, time having surprised me with its slipperiness yet again.
There are many things I have not yet accomplished with my blog that require a recommitment. One of them is interviews with others around the topic of change. While "turnover, transition and change" is the very thin glue I've tried to stick things together with here, I still haven't explored that subject as much as I've wanted to. If you have an idea about change, or are interested in sharing a story about a transition (past or present) that you'd be willing to share, I would love to hear it and perhaps feature it here. You can always get a hold of me at christinrice@christinrice.com to chat about it.
Given my reluctance and prolonged procrastination about starting a blog in the first place, I've been genuinely surprised by how much I enjoy it. I don't post often, but when I do I find the process of writing very satisfying because of the immediacy of being able to get it into the world so quickly. It creates a balance to all the hours of writing that just live in my journal or in a manuscript that won't be shared for weeks, or months or years, and then perhaps with only a tiny handful of trusted writing workshop friends. I also really love having people read my blog. It feels good. It's just that simple. I hope that it provides a little happy in the way certain blogs have fed me (such as Make, Grow, Gather and Love in Mid Air and Epbot, just to name a few that represent the cross-sections of my brain).
Thank you for being part of this year of blogging for me - you mean a lot to me!
p.s. Sorry ladies, my über attractive brother is taken.
p.p.s. This post took three times as long as it should have because Scrabble was being much too cute and Clue just tried to escape out the chimney again.
p.p.s.s. I wasn't kidding about wanting to interview you about change! Send me your stories, I would love to feature them.
p.p.p.s.s. If you go all the way back to the first post you will note that it was less than a year ago. So really what I'm celebrating here is the anniversary of the domain christinrice.com. But the whole point of the domain was for this blog, so it's more of a celebration of intention. In case you're a stickler for facts. :)
p.p.p.s.s.s. You're pretty, here's a flower for you:
